Every day I'm hustlin'
Mar. 4th, 2010 03:25 pmWriting so far this year:
Party Girl - Picked up by Freya's Bower in Jan.
Bite 1.0 - rejected for Naked Anthology (Rachel Kramer Bussel) in Jan.
Countess of Courtesans 2.0 - submitted in Feb. to Mammoth Book of New Romantica '10 (Maxim Jakubowski) - Won't hear back until Easter (early April)
Bite 2.0 - submitted today (March) for Cocktales' Kiss in the Dark (Adam Nevill) (before May would be my guess on hearing back?)
It does totally still make me giggle that I submitted a story to Cocktales, 'cause secretly I'm 12. JohnM did a really awesome job editing it, I'm very excited about Bite 2.0. I am now doing a set of three (hopefully) for a romantica anthology. Once I do the three, I will definately have a surplus of a few stories to shop around for my remaining anthologies. I think I'm going to pass on doing the Lesbian collection. As a part timer, I just don't feel comfortable with it.
So now with Bite submitted, I have 3 more collections to submit to. One of them appears to only take one submission, the other two take three each. Playing let's pretend that the two I have out in circulation get snapped up and one of the three I write this week *also* gets snapped up for anthology #1, I would have two left over. I should probably submit the two left over to #2, along with a new one and write a new one for #3. So after this current cycle, I will only need to do two more at most. And regardless to how the end of this cycle goes, I will have two stories at least left over which puts me in a better spot than this crazed writing cycle.
Whenever I sent a story off to the editor, there's always this vomit feeling. I don't know if that will go away or not with time, we'll see.
