If you are not yet a beta reader and would like to be, drop me a note. I just sent the betafish my bohemth 8K short story which is Regency romantica. I am doing it in google docs, so you can edit there if you like.

* Don't quit your day job. Man, that is a lot harder than it sounds. Not because I think I'm such a great writer or that my job is so bad. I'm a pretty decent writer for a newbie and I'm relearning a lot of stuff that I haven't been too attentive to since college, bad lazy habits basically. My job is really great. The problem is when you put the two together it's a lot harder than walking and chewing gum. Work makes you tired because chances are, you're staring at a screen in a boring sort of way for most of the day if you're a fellow office monkey like myself. Writing makes you tired because if you're not thinking about it, you're writing it and if you're not writing it, you're editing it in some kind of hellish lather-rinse-maim cycle. And then if you have fibro as well, it's pretty fucking daunting some days.

* But. I breathed down JohnM's neck and he obliged me and [livejournal.com profile] badnoodles from my beta-fish was kind enough to look over my story even though I gave them oh today to do so (Bite's not going to be much better on turnaround, betafish. Super sorry, I suck at time management) and I've re-edited the fucking thing two more times today because I'm apparently feeling ultra maschochistic. I just whipped out a cover letter and whipped it all over to James to illicitly print at his company and mail out express to the UK. This is expensive and sucky and my fault for not checking more deeply into what "end of feb" as a deadline means to this editor. If my story gets rejected, it better be for it sucking not nebulous deadline issues or I'm taking hostages. I wrote a v. polite letter to the publisher, hopefully it will mean it's okay if my story arrives on March 1st, which is the absolute latest it will show up. REGARDLESS. It's off my desk, probably made deadline, so that's #2 submission for the year so far, not bad given it's feb.

* So tonight, I somehow need to pull my shit together enough to gut and rewrite Bite, due on Monday. I may take today off so I don't take hostages. But I can also submit up to three stories on this next one . . .aiyiyi. I don't even know what to write sexy about right now, I'm so fucking wiped from all of this.

* . . .did I mention that I've had a massive fibro flare up Sun/Mon and am only now tokenly functioning? For reals.

* L. and I have a date on Sat, she's picking out a restaurant for us to go to, she's taking me to see Romeo & Juliet as a belated v-day gift (ask about the confusing sexy underware story sometimes, it's so bi-girl cliche), 'cause she's awesome like that.

* The weekend was pretty quiet, Jow and I went out for sushi to a new place that's close and good. April and James came over for ice cream and Jennifer's Body.

* I made my first 4 oz skein of yarn which looks . . .like yarn. [livejournal.com profile] geeksdoitbetter is totally right, it's way boring to be all, look! I made yarn! And everyone's like, um yeah, it sure is yarn. Instead of, omg are you spawning tribbles in your house? But more satisfying too. We ordered more BFL. I did my first fiber dying with Kool Aid that came out pretty if not a bit felty. James is getting me more Kool Aid and aided my habit by ordering me some recycled fair trade sari thread. I need a swift, asap.

* I finished a Kali dolly yesterday. If I'm going to be stuck at home, I'm going to be productive, damn it. So now I have Yemaya and Kali done, I just need to keep plugging. I finished the skein of yarn. I answered some questions for the website. I slogged through some more bridesmaids gowns.

* On the Trevia front, we're very cautiously considering Brighid's Well. I'm not sure if we'll be ready, if we'll have enough to sell. I made a business plan and we're considering. It's v. ahead of schedule, obvs, but it's a really good opportunity. But, we want to make sure we're ready. Either way, at least we should be able to start on our Etsy store soon.

* I like cabbage when it's done in the slow cooker. We made marinara sauce-rice-cabbage-turkey sausage, it was nom.
