The Full Hat Trick
May. 13th, 2010 12:03 pmMy sister and her bf wanted to take Jow, Mom, and me to dinner last night. I had already started to become suspious about what was up, but I wasn't sure. At the end of dinner, Melissa gives mom a mother's day present, a purse. And when we looked at the bottom there was a sonogram.
1. They're buying a townhouse down the shore (a block away from the beach)
2. They're getting married (he proposed on the cruise, they've been together almost two years)
3. She's past the first trimester (due Nov 24!)
My sister managed to master Cast Stun, though part of me knew it. She had sort of been hinting, saying she was getting fat, giving me a hypothetical (her friend is in the same situation for reals, I said if it was her she better do it in front of witnesses because who knows how mom would react), etc.
Now. My sister and I are close in age and she occasionally says she's fat like a preggo lady and I roll my eyes because she's two pounds. So when she said that a couple of months ago, I . . . sort of punched her in the stomach. Sigh. I didn't know! It wasn't hard! I didn't know it was occupied! She was v. chill, she was like, pfffft. The baby was so tiny you couldn't have bothered him (she's not finding the gender until she actually pops).
But as soon as I saw her, I knew she was pregnant. So much so I txted her at dinner asking and she laughed nervously and said, what? That's crazy! I was like, that's not a yes or no, skippy jump. My super secret sister power is she can't keep anything important from me for long, I can see into her soul, which she hates like a hating thing.
I'm going to be an aunt! So, knitters! Who wants to knit me this hat using my yarn for it? How many yards would be needed? White hat, black ears. Payment: 4oz hand dyed (choice of color), handspun yarn made by moi!
